Guilty plea in mortgage fraud

A previous Dallas resident lately confessed to Fed charges in a claimed $895,000 mortgage crime scheme that occurred in the Metroplex, according to prosecutors and court records. Reginald Davis, 41 of West Palm Beach, Fla., confessed July nine to charges of conspiracy to commit mail crime and wire crime. Sentencing hasn’t been set, prosecutors say.

Davis faces up to 5 years in jail, according to a press release by Fed prosecutors in the Eastern District of Texas, where the case was attempted. According to a statement of facts filed in court, Davis collaborated with another individual to make fake statements on mortgage applications so that Davis could buy 2 home properties in the Metroplex.

One was found in the 3900 block of Sunflower Lane in Plano, and Davis landed loans totaling $275,000 for that property, court documents say. The other property was in the 4300 block of San Gabriel Drive in Dallas, with Davis getting $620,000 in loans for it, court records say. Davis defaulted on loans for those 2 properties, the factual resume claims. The individual with whom Davis presumably collaborated isn’t referred to in the factual resume. However, in a separate indictment in June, prosecutors allege that individual is Micaiah Pruitt, 42, of Dallas. Pruitt, who has begged trusting, faces up to 150 years in jail if found guilty on all counts in the indictment, including mail crime, wire crime, conspiracy to commit mail and wire crime, and cash laundering, according to a prosecution press release.
