First Trail Conviction for NV loan Fraud Task Force

United States Attorney, Daniel Bogden, said that former United Technologists Chief Calway William Cauley is schedule for sentencing on May 17th. Mr. Cauley was convicted of two conspiracy counts and three mail and bank fraud charges.

Calway Cauley, age 68, from California went through a jury trial and is the first defendant to be convicted by a jury after the Southern Nevada Mortgage Fraud Task Force was created in 2008. The trial revealed that Cauley and his co-conspirators used straw buyers and fraudulent mortgage loan applications to defraud mortgage lending institutions.

The trail revealed that between November of 2005 and December 2007; Mr. Cauley and his co-conspirators falsified bank documents and obtains mortgages by fraudulent means via straw buyers in purchase transactions in the state of Nevada and California.

Mr. Cauley’s co-conspirators include William Ervin, Ladon McClellan, Joyce Wilturner and Truemenatra Warner. Mr. Cauley’s co-conspirator all have pleaded guilty in the case.
